William Cletus “Bill” Russell, Jr.
William Cletus “Bill” Russell, Jr., 70, of Williamsport, Maryland, passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, at Ravenwood Nursing Home under Hospice Care.
He was born Jan. 16, 1946, in Hagerstown, Maryland, to the late William Cletus and Betty Marie Harbaugh Russell.
Bill was a 1964 graduate of Williamsport High School Williamsport, and a 1966 graduate of Hagerstown Junior College with an Associate’s Degree.
He was employed as a supervisor with General Motors Parts Division, Martinsburg, for many years until his retirement.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves.
He was a member of Downsville Christian Church, Downsville, Maryland.
Bill was an Eagle Scout.
He was a lifetime member of Potomac Post No. 202 American Legion Williamsport, where he served as past commander.
He was a member of Last’s Man Club, Williamsport Country Club and Beaver Creek Country Club.
Bill enjoyed playing golf with his friends at Beaver Creek Country Club and also at Blackmoor Golf Course in Murrell’s Inlet, South Carolina.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cindy McIntire Russell; son, Donnie G. Russell and his wife, Jackie, of Boonsboro, Maryland; son, Shawn D. Russell, of Shepherdstown; grandchildren, Kara Whyte and her husband Jermane, Brandon Russell and Cameron Renaud; son-in-law, David Renaud, of Shepherdstown; sister-in-law, Barbie Russell, of Williamsport; and niece, Tara Russell.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Heather Lynn Renaud; and a brother, Jimmy Russell.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport, with Pastor Stephen E. Wagoner officiating. Interment was in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
The family would like to thank all the friends and caregivers that helped during Bill’s battle with cancer.
