Bertie “Sis” Irene Kidwiler Hockman

Bertie “Sis” Irene Kidwiler Hockman, 84, of Shepherdstown, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at her residence, while under the care of Hospice.

Born March 19, 1932, in Bakerton, she was the daughter of the late Adam L. and Lucy Elizabeth Griffith Kidwiler.

Sis was a caretaker to all and a homemaker. She was very proud of being employed as a cook and with various business: Shenandoah Downs, Shepherd College, Speciality Binding, The Reunion and Newberrys.

She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Floyd “Pete” Hockman; three sons, Danny Reedy, Daryl Hockman and David Hockman; three daughters, Debbie Zombro, Diane Sankbeil, Denise Hockman; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Jeannie Jimick; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Adam, and Bill Kidwiler.

Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Brown Funeral Home, with Chaplain Arion Lillard officiating.
