Margaret C. Kendig Tabler

Margaret C. Kendig Tabler, 92, of Martinsburg, passed away Dec. 4, 2016, at home surrounded by her family.

Born Aug. 10, 1924, in Nipetown, she was the daughter of the late John Allen and Selina Anthony Kendig.

Before retiring, she was employed as a teacher at Berkeley County Schools. She taught at Stonewall School and was among the first group of teachers at the new Musselman High School.

She was a member of Moler Avenue Church of the Brethren; the AAUW; Delta Kappa Gamma; and the West Virginia Association of Retired School Employees. She attended Bedington United Methodist Church.

In 1941, she graduated from Martinsburg High School. Additionally, in 1945, she graduated with her BA degree from Shepherd College; and, by 1953, she graduated with her MA degree from West Virginia University.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Christian “Buck” Tabler, who passed away June 16, 2004; one brother, John A. Kendig Sr.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend thanks to the exceptional caregivers from Home Helpers Inc.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor W. Scott Summer and Pastor Walter Bowers officiating. Interment was in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
