Birgitta N. Wigren

It is with great sadness that our beloved mother and grandmother, Birgitta N. Wigren, (aka “farmor”) has passed away on Jan. 6, 2017.

Born in Stockholm, Sweden on April 25, 1926, she came to this country from Sweden in 1947 as an au pair for the Swedish Embassy. Later she met and married Lloyd E. Wigren on Dec. 28, 1949. They were married for 57 years.

She is survived by two children, Nils A. Wigren and wife, Debbie of Uvilla and daughter Christina of Sweden. Birgitta deeply loved her grandchildren, Lars and wife Sarah of Brooklyn, New York, Kirsten and husband Tevor Hott with great grandson Paul; Laura and her husband, Joel Croson of Uvilla; Erik and Elisabet of Sweden and nephew Fredrick Nordeman of Sweden.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd E. Wigren; her parents, Olof and Anna-Lisa Nordeman; brother, Anders Nordeman.

She was a member of the St James Lutheran Church in Uvilla. Birgitta Wigren will be buried privately next to her husband Lloyd in Elmwood Cemetery in Shepherdstown, at a later date.

On Saturday, Jan. 14, at St. James Lutheran Church in Uvilla, there will be a celebration of life at 4:30 p.m. with a reception to follow. Please bring your favorite farmor story.
