Terry Lynn (Minor) Staubs

Terry Lynn (Minor) Staubs, 64, of Ranson, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Care Facility in Kearneysville.

Born in Charles Town on Dec. 12, 1952, and was the daughter of the late Franklin Burl and Sylvia Jane (Rowland) Minor.

She is survived by a daughter, Christina Lynne Staubs Shenton and husband, Christopher, of Harpers Ferry; four grandchildren, Kristen Marie Staubs, Jordan Samantha Shenton, Hunter Jacob Hebb and Jessica Lynn Staubs; one great-granddaughter, Summer Nichole Dawn Staubs, all of Harpers Ferry.

She is also survived by one sister, Debra Minor Wilson and husband, Allen, of Fairmont; two brothers, David Franklin Minor and wife, Tracie, of Round Rock, Texas, and Brian Keith Minor, of Ranson.

In addition, she is survived by nieces and nephews, Jennifer Wilson Hartlieb and Laura Wilson Ross, both of North Carolina, Charles Allan Knotts, of Winchester, Virginia, JR Reynolds, of West Virginia, Brandon James Minor, of Winchester and Aaron David Minor, of West Virginia; great-nieces and great- nephews, Charlene Marie Knotts, Brittany Ann Hails, Sharon Elaine Chownyk, Shane Reynolds and Lilah Ross; great-great-nieces and nephews, Parish Knotts, Brooklyn and David Chownyk and Shorty Staubs. She is also survived by her ex-husband, Jerry “Gusty” Staubs; and former sister-in-law, Delores Hypes; aunts, uncles and cousins, including Cheryl Smoot, of Shenandoah Junction; and her beloved cat, Puffer.

She was a member of the class of 1971 of Shepherdstown High School and had previously attended schools in Charles Town. She earned a degree in nursing from James Rumsey Technical Institute and was employed as a charge nurse, LPN, at Inova Loudon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Leesburg, Virginia, at the time of her retirement in June 2016, due to health issues. While at Inova, among commendations she received was one for 25 years of loyal service there.

She was of Baptist faith.

She was an avid reader, and enjoyed shopping and spending time with her grandchildren. She had an extensive collection of angel figurines and souvenir spoons and bells. She enjoyed oldies and country music, from the Beatles to Billy Ray Cyrus and Kenny Rogers.

In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by her son, Jerry David “Boo” Staubs, who died Aug. 20, 2016; a granddaughter, Samantha Nichole Dawn Staubs, who died Dec. 10, 2006; two sisters, Norma Jane Minor, who died in infancy in April 1950 and Bonnie Lee Minor Knotts, who died Nov. 25, 2012; her grandparents, Charles Edgar and Theresa Grace Burns Rowland, and Asa Franklin and Bertha Jane Miner Minor; and special friends, Gary Edward Staubs and Sandra Janine Miller.

“She loved us at our best and our worst. She was always there to pick us up when we fell. We love her and miss her. She will always live in our hearts and in our memories.”

Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 310 South Fairfax Blvd., Ranson.

Mrs. Staubs has chosen cremation as her method of disposition. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
