Elca L. Frye

Elca L. Frye, 80, of Shepherdstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at Care Haven Center, Martinsburg.

Born June 7, 1936, in Jefferson County, she was the daughter of Jesse L. Frye and Ida V. (Willingham) Frye.

Ms. Frye retired after 42 years of service at Betty’s Restaurant, Shepherdstown.

She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Shepherdstown and a graduate of Shepherdstown High School, class of 1954.

Ms. Frye, for many years, had been a member and vice president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Shepherdstown Fire Department.

She is survived by her niece and caregiver, Stephanie M. Custer; sister, Virginia F. Potts, of Shepherdstown; brother, Jesse E. Frye and wife, Barbara, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; brother-in-law, Jerry Mauck, of Shepherdstown; and many nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosemary Frye and Ethel M. Mauck.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, with Pastor Karen Erskine-Valentine officiating.

Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown.
