Gean Shockey Domenico

Gean Shockey Domenico, 75, of Virginia Beach, Virginia and formerly of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017.

Born Sept. 16, 1941, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Oakley Eugene Shockey and the late Susan Bradley Shockey.

Gean was a graduate of Martinsburg High School, West Virginia University and the Washington County Hospital School of Medical Technology in Hagerstown, Maryland. She later earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Shepherd College and dedicated over 20 years to the Berkeley County School system as a sixth grade teacher at Valley View Elementary and later Musselman Middle School. She then moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia and taught five more years at Ocean Lakes Elementary for the Virginia Beach Public School system. After retirement, Gean returned to Ocean Lakes Elementary as a tutor for at-risk students.

Gean is survived by her children; Ronald Scott (Ron) Domenico and his wife, Tara and their three children, Gianni, Ava, and Nico; Theresa Ann (Terri) Dewberry and her husband, Dane and her three children, Kyle, Carly, and Dane Jr.; and Mark Douglas Domenico and his wife, Rachel and their three children, Gia, Zarek, and Broden, as well as grandchildren Ashleigh Domenico Settle and Andrew Domenico.

A funeral service was held Saturday, Feb. 18, at 2 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel and Cemetery.
