Carl F. Bell
Professor Carl F. Bell, faculty of Shepherd University for 54 years, passed away on March 20, 2017.
Dr. Bell was born in Muskingum County, Ohio, the son of Erman S. Bell and Mary F. Bell.
He is survived by a sister Beth Quinn (Don), Brilliant ,Ohio; brothers, Leslie Bell (Connie-deceased), Zanesville, Ohio; and Duane Bell (Jane), New Concord, Ohio; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, ranging from Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Colorado.
Dr. Bell was preceded in death by his wife, Lyla Neff Bell, in 2011.
Dr. Bell was a graduate of Muskingum University, B.S., Biology; Miami University of Ohio, M.S., Botany; and The Ohio State University, Ph.D, Plant Pathology. He was a consummate teacher and naturalist.
Carl’s nirvana was watching the flying squirrels glide at the family tree farm.
Visitation hours will be on March 24, at New St. United Methodist Church Shepherdstown from 6 to 8 p.m., with a memorial service at the same location, March 25 at 1:30 p.m.
