Philip S. Snyder
Philip Steven Snyder, 69, of Shepherdstown, went to be with the Lord on April 1, 2017 after a 5 year struggle with cancer.
Born January 22, 1948 in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the son of Fred and Anne Snyder.
Phil attended Mclean High School and Studied music in Boston.
Phil’s father was a navy aviator and his family lived in Pensicola, Florida , Alabama, Virginia, Canada and Japan.
He was a self-employed real estate appraiser.
Phil had a variety of interests. He drove an 18 wheeler across country, loved music, played the drums and guitar. He was a member of a poplar band the Organic Cave Men which played in the D.C. area.
He and Linda enjoyed traveling. They recently visited the Grand Canyon and Italy.
Phil loved fast cars and motorcycles. He loved to go to the salt flats in Utah to watch the races.
Phil is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Anne Snyder.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Linda Grant Snyder, his brother, David and fiancee Karen Buzzy, of Cape Coral, Florida, his sister, Annette Kennedy, of Fort Meyer, Florida and his nieces and nephews, Chris, Lindsey, Jennifer, Doug, Patrick, Jason and Ryan.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Panhandle, Meritus John Marsh Oncology Department and Dr. Michael McCormack for all their care and support.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 6 at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017 at Charles Town Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. John Bethard officiating.
Interment will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.
