Virginia Burns Duff Tabb (Gegee)

Virginia Burns Duff Tabb (Gegee) went to her eternal rest on May 1, 2017, at Hospice of the Panhandle, Kearneysville.

Born Oct. 17, 1925, in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Charles Weber Duff and Virginia Louise Burns Duff.

She was a Charles Town High School graduate, class of 1943 and an active member of the Charles Town Presbyterian Church since 1938, having served on the fellowship, finance, membership and RNC teams.

In 2012, she was recognized as a West Virginia Woman in Agriculture by the West Virginia Dept. of Agriculture for her 70 plus years as a farmer at the family farm, Vinemont.

Never one to be idle, she was a homemaker, loved genealogy, quilting, tatting and basket making. Community service included membership in the Leetown CEOS Club, Bee Line Chapter NSDAR (treasurer and regent), Clan Campbell Society of America as well as the McDuff Clan and a 4-H leader.

She is survived by her children, Lyle C. Tabb III and wife, Jane, of Leetown, Walter C. Tabb of Coram, Montana, Robert C. Tabb and wife, Nancy, of Leetown,Virginia L. Tabb, of Bunker Hill, David C. Tabb and wife, Nadine, of Halltown and Howard C. Tabb, of Leetown; plus 13 grandchildren and 26 great- grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Lyle C. Tabb II, in 1994; sister, Marjorie D. McGarry, in 1984; and brother, Charles Weber Duff Jr., in 1987.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, at the Charles Town Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Bethard and Pastor Nancy Tabb officiating.

Interment will be in the Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.
