Ben Jones

It is with great sadness that the family of Benjamin Dexter Jones, 86, announces his passing on Friday, June 2, 2017, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg.

Benjamin was born May 17, 1931, in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina, to Arthur and Lillian Jones.

He leaves his wife of 66 years, Elinor (Petie) Jones; his two sons, Clifford Dexter, and Steven Michael and wife, Margaret; his daughter, Sandra Kimberly Dixon and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Zachary and Allison Dixon, and Benjamin and William Jones. He also leaves his brother, Arthur Lee Jones; and sister-in-law, Judy Jones, wife to his brother, Stanley Jones, who preceded him in death in December 2016.

Benjamin served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and later moved to Catonsville, Maryland. He and Elinor retired to Shepherdstown.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017, at New Street United Methodist Church, 202 W. New St. (corner of Church and New Streets), Shepherdstown, WV 25443. Refreshments will be served after the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Street United Methodist Church, 202 W. New St., P.O. Box 188, Shepherdstown, WV 25443.
