Gregory D. Carper
Gregory D. Carper, 68, husband of Marcia R. Carper, of Cape Coral, Florida, died, unexpectedly, in his home, on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.
Greg was born Sept. 16, 1948, in Charles Town. He was the son of the late Luther “Dick” and Cora “Cozy” Jackson. He is survived by his sister, Jennifer “Sammy” (Emory) Carper Kable; niece, Amy K. (Scott) Fincham; grandnieces, Madyson and Julie; nephew, Travis D. (Kelly) Kable; and grandnephew, Emmett.
He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Lisa M. Chicarella; stepson, Christopher J. Chicarella; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew Chicarella.
Greg was a graduate of Charles Town High School (1966) and Shepherd College (1970). He was a member of Delta Sigma Phi and the Shepherd College Alumni. He was a member of the St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Charles Town. He was also a member of the Springfield, VA Masonic Lodge #217, the Shriners, the Eagles and the Moose Clubs.
Greg retired from the federal government in 2005, where he held the position of the Chief Operating Officer of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
Friends will be received 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, at Fuller Metz Funeral Home, 3740 Del Prado Blvd. South, Cape Coral, Florida.
Greg was a loving husband, brother, stepfather, uncle, grandpa and friend. His welcoming way made friends feel like family. He was a good man, and he will be missed.
