Eleanor F. Brown

Eleanor Florence Brown, 97, of Shenandoah Junction died Monday, Aug. 14, 2017 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility, Kearneysville.

She was born Feb. 24, 1920 in Kabletown. She was the daughter of Cleveland Hendricks Tumblin and Nellie Florence Grey Tumblin.

Mrs. Brown was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great-great grandmother. Prior, she retired in 1985 after 25 years of service with the Perfection Garment.

She was a very active member of Elk Branch Presbyterian Church where she served as Deacon and President of the Presbyterian Women. She was a dedicated worker of the church.

She was a member of Edgewood Homemakers. And her happiness was working in her flower garden and keeping flowers in the church.

She is survived by her daughter, Florence Ann “Flo” Brown-Best, of Shenandoah Junction, son, Richard H. “Dickie” Brown and wife Barbara, of Shepherdstown; grandchildren, Richard H. Brown, Jr., Ronald G. Brown, Elizabeth A. Sigler, Amanda T. Lutman, Kathryn Jane Slaven and Margaret B. Henderson; seventeen great- grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren; sister, Charlotte Burner and husband Conard, of Martinsburg and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles Clifford “Brownie” Brown who died Feb. 22, 1995; four sisters, Annie Lloyd, Lillian Tumblin, Dorothy Sowers and Elizabeth Hough; four brothers, David “Buddy” Tumblin, Nelson Tumblin, Howard Tumblin and Elwood Tumblin.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2017 at the Elk Branch Presbyterian Church, Shenandoah Junction with the Rev. David Beeson officiating.

Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.
