John T. Reynolds

John Thomas Reynolds, 75, of Martinsburg, passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017.

Born Jan. 22, 1942, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Thomas Guy Reynolds Jr. and Lena Virginia Porter Burns. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Rose Stuckey Reynolds; a daughter, Anna Elizabeth Reynolds; a brother, Robert Garland Reynolds; and a half-sister, Ann Reynolds Carden.

Mr. Reynolds graduated from Shepherd College in 1964, with a degree in chemistry. He briefly taught high school before joining the Central Intelligence Agency, where he enjoyed a successful career for more than 32 years, as an intelligence officer.

Mr. Reynolds was a past member of the board of directors of the Shepherd University Foundation, a member of Shepherd University’s Joseph P. McMurran Society, and a member emeritus of the American Chemical Society.

He was a member of Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, where he had served as an elder and a Sunday School teacher. Mr. Reynolds was an accomplished genealogist and a proud member of the Clan Campbell Society (North America).

He is survived by a half-sister, Vanda Reynolds White Stohlman and husband, Robert, of Williamsburg, Va.; a stepsister, Patsy Cunningham Slonaker of Inwood; a sister-in-law, Margaret Sue Reynolds of St. Pauls, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.

Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rosedale Funeral Home in Martinsburg, with the Rev. Rachel Crumley of Tuscarora Presbyterian Church to officiate. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
