John L. Maigret

John Louis Maigret, 90, of Woodstock, VA passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Veterans Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.

Born July 24, 1927 in Shreveport, LA, he was the son of the late John Maigret and Vera Sheffield Maigret.

John was a member of Wakemans Grove Church of the Brethren in Edinburg, VA.

John loved nature and was an avid outdoorsman who greatly enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League in Leetown, WV. Spending time with his grandsons was the closest thing to his heart.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, at home; one daughter, Michelle Maigret Sullivan and husband, Charles of Gaithersburg, MD; three grandchildren, Frank and wife, Caitlyn and Edward and Steven Sullivan; one great-grandchild, Luke and one brother, James Maigret and wife, Maureen.

He was preceded in death by his former wife, Nancy O’Flaherty Maigret, one sister, Cecile Driggs and one brother, Emile Maigret.

Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Wakemans Grove Church of the Brethren, 668 Wakeman Grove Road, Edinburg, VA 22824.

Visitation for family and close friends will be held on Thursday from 1-3 pm at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV 25415.

Interment will be held at 2:00 pm in Culpeper National Cemetery, 305 US Avenue, Culpeper, VA 22701.
