Margie Lee Boyd Adams
Margie Lee Boyd Adams died on Oct. 27, 2018 at Adventist Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville, Maryland.
Adams was born Dec. 13, 1940 in Jefferson County, West Virginia, daughter of Fannie C. and Holmes Ercel Boyd.
She was educated in public schools in Jefferson County, and graduated from Shepherdstown High School. She was a graduate of Shepherd College, with a bachelor’s degree in education, and she earned a master’s degree from West Virginia University in 1992. Adams taught in junior high and middle schools in Charles Town from 1963 until her retirement in 2013. Upon her retirement, she was noted as the longest tenured teacher in Jefferson County.
Adams is survived by her sister, Nancy B. Leidenfrost (Mrs. Charles B.) of Frederick, Maryland and two nieces, Ann Watson Phillips and her husband, Richard A. Phillips of Berryville, Virginia; Elizabeth Watson Martin of Winchester, Virginia; and brother-in-law, the Rev. Dr. Raleigh H. Watson, of Berryville, Virginia.
She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Patricia Boyd Watson (Mrs. Raleigh H.); and her brother, Holmes Ercel Boyd, Jr.
Margie was a member of Pack Horse Ford Chapter of the West Virginia Society, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority. Margie was a life-long member of the Kearneysville Presbyterian Church. Her hobbies and interests included reading, traveling and collecting antiques and rare books.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 10, 2018 at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, in Charles Town, with the Rev. John Bethard officiating. Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m. on Nov. 10 at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Pleasant View Memory Gardens, in Martinsburg.
