Peter Domenic ‘Pete’ Madeo

Apr 26, 2019

In June 1949, Pete was born fifth of seven children to the late Ruth and Joe Madeo. Brought into this world in San Francisco, California, the family returned East and Pete grew up on the eastern seaboard and Caribbean.

He was survived by his loving wife, Chris, of 47 years, who provided him with a wonder-filled life. Pete cherished the love that she showered upon him throughout their marriage. Together, they had four loving daughters which survive him: Eva and husband Tim; Debbie; Patricia and husband Terry; and Bronwyn Kelly and husband Jonathan. They were blessed with seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pete is also survived by three sisters and one brother: Maria and husband Jeff; Martha and friend John; Margretta and husband Dennis; and Richard and wife Carol. He was preceded in death by his two elder brothers, Joseph and Christopher.

After graduating from Virginia Tech, Pete’s first 22 working years were spent as a career Army Officer, mostly in hospitals and medical research centers, ending with his first retirement from USAMRIID, Fort Detrick Maryland. His last 22 years were spent in industry in and around Hagerstown, Maryland, before retiring for the second time from T.B. Woods Foundry in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

Although he has no regrets about leaving this world, he was sad to miss everyone and disappointed there is so much work remaining undone to make the world better.

In lieu of flowers, reach out to a marginalized neighbor and lend them a hand as they struggle to assimilate into this difficult world.

The family will hold a memorial service in June to honor Pete’s passing.
