Christopher A. Custer

Christopher Aaron Custer, 43, of Shepherdstown, passed away unexpectedly at home, Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

He was born on a Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1976, in Winchester, Virginia, and was the son of Rebecca Vickers Custer and the late Charles William Custer of Charles Town.

Chris, also known to many as Aaron, was a member of Zion Episcopal Church, Charles Town, where he served as an acolyte, an acolyte director and a member of Zion’s vestry.

He is a 1994 graduate of Jefferson High School, Shenandoah Junction and a 1995 graduate of the Diesel Training Institute of America, Grantsville, Maryland. Chris most recently worked for John Deere out of Winchester, Virginia.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Stephanie Mauck Custer; one son, Christopher Kyle Custer; one brother, John William Custer; aunt and uncle, Peggy and Jack Coulter; cousins, Patricia Coulter Grove, husband, Chris and son, Andrew; Jaclynn Coulter Courtney, husband, Jason and daughter, Ashton; father in-law, Jerry Mauck; and his forever-faithful furbaby, Allie Mae.

In addition to his father, Chris is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Nina Kisner Vickers; paternal grandfather, William Custer; and mother in-law, Ethel Mauck.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The family would like anyone who would like to express love and sympathy to the family to meet 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at Jefferson High School, 4141 Flowing Springs Road, Shenandoah Junction. The vehicles will caravan to Chris’s home (5523 Engle Molers Road, Shepherdstown) where the family will be in the yard to accept love and sympathy messages from friends, family and loved ones, as they caravan passed their home.
