Richard D. Buracker

Richard Douglas Buracker, “Rick” 71, of Inwood, passed away Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at his home under the care of hospice. Born Oct. 16, 1949, in Ranson, he was the son of the late Benjamin Elwood Buracker and Geraldine Elizabeth Ann Wilson Buracker.

Richard was of the Methodist faith and attended Brunswick High School. He served in the U S Army, in the 18th Military Brigade, 716th Battalion, Vietnam. He was awarded National Defence Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, two Overseas Service Bars and Expert Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar. He worked as a carpenter, loved Nascar, playing horses, San Francisco 49ers and loved his social life. He was a member of AMVETS WV 0030 in Inwood and the Charles Town VFW Post #3522.

He is survived by three sons, Richard Buracker II and fiance, companion, Lynn of Inwood, Timothy Buracker and companion, Beth of Brunswick, Maryland and Steven Buracker, of Millville and one daughter, Rachel Walker and husband, Nick of Charles Town; two sisters, Patty Bernisky and husband, Steve, of Shepherdstown and Deborah Gay Collis, of Gerrardstown, companion, Sandy Reedy; five grandchildren, Brandy Haupt, and husband, Craig, and Elaina, McLain, Autumn, Paislee, and one great-grandchild, Laikin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Michael Lee and Robert Nelson Buracker and sister, Eleanor Jewell.

The family would like to give special thanks to Deborah Collis, Lynn Ingram, Sandy Reedy, and Hospice for the tender care they gave him.

Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with the Brother Richard Simons officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Edge Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2020, at the Chapel.
