Judith A. Ficklin

Judith A. Ficklin, 80, of Shepherdstown, passed away Nov. 14, 2020, surrounded by her family.

Born Oct. 5, 1940, in Shepherdstown, she was the daughter of the late Harwood and Charlotte (Morrison) Kidwiler. Judy graduated from Shepherdstown High School in 1958. After attending Shepherd College for one year, Judy took a job with the Federal Government and moved to Arlington, Virginia. There she met Jerry whom she married Aug. 11, 1961. Judy returned to Shepherdstown when Jerry was moved by the US Army to an assignment in Germany. Judy then moved back to Arlington once Jerry returned from his overseas assignment. Judy then started her new career as a world-class homemaker.

Judy was very artistic and was known for her creative decoration and craft ideas. Some of her decorative ideas were featured in multiple national magazines and on two national TV shows. Judy loved God, her family, her cats Ali and Molly and spending time on painting and decorative activities. She attended Fellowship Bible Church in Shenandoah Junction.

Judy is survived by Jerry, her husband of 59 years, daughter Dee Ficklin and granddaughter, Danielle Smith of Hagerstown; grandsons, Zachary and Tyler Ficklin of Rockville, Maryland; daughter-in-law, Darlene Ficklin of Hagerstown, Maryland; sisters, Myna (Steve) Wandless and Linda (Rick) Halter of Shepherdstown; sister-in-law, Patricia (the late Sonny) Kidwiler of Harpers Ferry.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerry D. Ficklin II and brother Emory (Sonny) Kidwiler.

Interment will be a private service for the family at Elmwood Cemetery in Shepherdstown.
