Daniel R. Nichols, III
Daniel R. “Rusty” Nichols, III, 59, of Shepherdstown passed away Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Care Facility, Kearneysville.
He was born Dec. 29, 1960 in Hagerstown, Maryland. He was the son of the late Daniel R. Nichols, Jr. and Peggy L. (Dorsey) Nichols
For 20 years he worked in the Construction Industry. For the last 10 years he had worked as a Poker Dealer at the Hollywood Casino at the Charles Town Races.
He was a member of the Uvilla united Methodist Church.
He graduated from Jefferson High School, class of 1979 where he played Football for the Cougars.
He never met a stranger. Friends everywhere, of all ages, once you were friends, you were friends.
He loved the outdoors and living on the farm.
He loved dogs and always wanted to open a rescue to save all dogs.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Heidi (Irons) Nichols, at home; daughter, Hannah Nichols, of Harpers Ferry, son, Brogan Nichols, at home; two four legged companions, Red and Cash; one granddaughter on the way; sisters, Deborah D. Thomas and husband Gary, Shepherdstown, Saundra A. Ash and husband David, of Berryville, Virginia; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services and Interment will be in private at the Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.
Arrangements are by the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.
