Juanita L. Hughes
Juanita Louise “Neet” Hughes of Shepherdstown, WV, is now rejoicing with her Lord and Savior as of Jan. 2, 2021. She passed away at George Washington University Hospital in Washington D.C. She was born March 27, 1960 in Charles Town, WV. She was the daughter of the late Henry “Sherman” Hughes, Hazel Washby Hughes, and stepfather Norman C. McDonald.
Juanita loved the Lord and her family. She loved to go fishing and hang with her friends. She was a member of Mount Zion A.M.E Church of Duffields, WV, where she served on the Women’s Missionary Society and served as a steward, and playwriter. Juanita was a true servant of the Lord who enjoyed volunteering and helping the community.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, and four sisters.
She is survived by one child, Sarah Hughes of Pontiac, MI. Two brothers, Henry Hughes of Waterford, MI, and James Hughes of Baltimore, MD. Three sisters, Deborah Washby McDonald of Martinsburg, WV, Sylvia “Bitzy” Turner of New Kensington, PA, and Brenda Simmons of Tucson, AZ. A host of nieces and nephews, great nieces, and nephews, family, and friends.
Due to COVID-19, we will not be having a service. We will have a memorial in celebration of Juanita’s life on March 27, 2021. Please be mindful of COVID-19 restrictions.
