Margaret V. Roman

Margaret “Mike” Virginia Roman, 92, of Shepherdstown, WV departed this life Thursday, April 15, 2021, passed peacefully in her sleep.

She was born June 1, 1928, in Shepherdstown, and was the daughter of the late Richard Devonshire and Laura Devonshire Clark.

Margaret retired from Newton D. Baker Veterans Administration Center where she worked in the laundry department. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Shepherdstown.

Before his passing in 2017, Margaret was married for 64 years to Eugene A. Roman.

She is survived by five children, Sheila Hamilton and husband, Roland, of Shepherdstown, Eugene “Tony” Roman and fiance’, Beth Young, of Martinsburg, Laura Ann Roman-Jones of Shepherdstown, Kevin Roman and wife, Barbara, of Frederick, MD, and Charlene Roman-Johnson and husband, James, of Martinsburg; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; and a godchild, Pamela Boomer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Devonshire; and a sister, Mary Ruth Hopewell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Asbury United Methodist Church’s general fund in Shepherdstown.
