Gerald R. Mills

Gerald Ralph Mills, 82, of Portsmouth, VA passed away Aug. 17, 2021.

He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Richard Mills of McIntyre, Georgia.

He is survived by his wife Alice Knott Mills, originally from Shepherdstown WV, his son Sam of Martinsburg, WV and his daughter and son-in-law Linda and Omar Peralta of Fredericksburg VA. He is also survived by his three grandchildren Lawson Kendall stationed at MCAS New River in Jacksonville, NC, and Katherine and Patrick Peralta of Fredericksburg, VA.

He was preceded in death by a brother Charles Mills of Oregon and a sister-in-law Sue Knott of Shepherdstown.

Gerald is survived by a sister Linda Sankey of Macon, GA and a sister-in-law Martha Putz of Shepherdstown.

Gerald graduated from Georgia Southern University after serving three years in the Army. He spent the next 30 plus years working in retail management for Kmart.

After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family and his true love — golf.

There was a closed family-only graveside service in Shepherdstown WV. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the church where he and Alice were wed over 50 years ago (address below) or to the American Cancer Society.
