Lynn Shirley

D. Lynn Shirley, of Shepherdstown, W.V. died Aug. 10, 2021. He is survived by his wife Dolores of Shepherdstown and his son Chad Shirley, daughter-in-law Deborah, and grandson Jonathan of La Canada Flintridge, CA. Also surviving are sisters Sherry Anne Bryant of Wayland, MA and Silva Lee Thomas of York, PA.

Mr. Shirley, a Shepherd University alumnus, was a pioneer in the computer industry. He founded a company in Silicon Valley in CA that produced large-scale data storage systems. He also played leadership roles in the development of a programming language and an Internet search engine. Over the course of his career, Mr. Shirley lived on both coasts of the United States and in Europe.

Upon retiring to Shepherdstown, Mr. Shirley devoted years of service to the Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF) at Shepherd University. His tenure as a board member of CATF included a term as President, and he was a member of the Honorary Board of Trustees.

Mr. Shirley loved to play golf and greatly enjoyed being a member of the Tuskarora Kurnals.
