Joan K. Cummings Keller

Joan Kathleen Cummings Keller, 72, of Shepherdstown, WV passed away Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021 at Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born Feb. 17, 1949 in Clarksburg, WV she was the daughter of the late Paul Cummings and Maryolive Luella Braummer Cummings.

Joan was a retired elementary school teacher from both Berkeley County and Washington County School systems.

She was active in St. Agnes Catholic Church choir, bread and cup as well as other activities. She was a member of Pack Horse Ford chapter of DAR and of the Pythian Sisters.

She is survived by her husband, James “Jim” Keller, who were married for 50 years. She is also survived by three children, Ben Keller and wife, Julie and their daughters, Stella and Grace; daughter, Sarah and her children, daughter, Cierra and sons, Mitchell and Spencer; great-grandson, Moses; son, Emmett and Erica; three brothers, and three sisters, John, David and Stephen, Mary Cummings, Teresa Breeden and Annie Cummings; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30, 2021 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 106 S Duke St, Shepherdstown, WV 25443 with Father T. Mathew Rowgh and Father Andrew Switzer as celebrants.

Family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment prayers will be said in Elmwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a cause that Joan avidly supports, the Kolofata Girls Scholarship Fund. Checks should be made payable to St. Agnes Church with Kolofata in memo line.
