Mae J. Carlisle

Mae Jennis Carlisle, 81, of Kearneysville, West Virginia passed away Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021 at Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility where she was surrounded by her love ones.

Mae Carlisle was born Oct. 23, 1939 in Marion, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Leonard T. McVey and Bertha Mae Blevins.

She was married to the late Alton L. Carlisle whom passed Jan. 15, 2010.

She worked most of her life as a CNA and that carried through her life of helping others.

She always wanted to be a blessing to someone in need.

Mrs. Carlisle was a member of the Leetown Baptist Church, She was extremely active with her grandchildren in all of their school activities. She had a very fiery soul and passionate about sitting out on the porch taking in the nature.

Mrs. Carlisle is survived by her daughter Deborah Spencer and husband Ronald of Kearneysville, WV; her son William “Billy” Moore and wife Sarah of Shepherdstown, WV, a Step Son Victor Lee Carlisle of Ranson, WV; two sisters Dorthulia M. Wines of Hagerstown, Maryland, Wilma G. Rogers of Bunker Hill, WV; and a brother Leonard O. McVey of Bunker Hill, WV; 5 Grandchildren Carrie, Gary “Peep”, Andrew, Marcus, and Desirae; 15 Great Grandchildren and one on the way.

Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one step son Garett Paul Carlisle, her sister Mary Ann McVey, and a brother Jerry Glenn McVey who were twins.

Family received friends at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 29, 2021. Funeral started at 1 p.m. Wednesday immediately following the visitation with Pastor Ben Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Memorial Gardens in Martinsburg, WV.
