A. Wayne Nichols

A Wayne Nichols, 66, of Kearneysville, went to be with the Lord Friday, Nov. 26, 2021 at Hospice of the Panhandle in Kearneysville.

Wayne was born on May 19, 1955, at Kings Daughter’s Hospital in Martinsburg, West Virginia. He was the son of the late George A. and Shirley C. (McCarty) Nichols.

He attended Williams Memorial United Methodist Church in Shenandoah Junction.

“Nick” retired after 41 years of service from CSX Railroad as a welder and machine operator. After retiring, he volunteered and worked at the Moose Lodge 948- Charles Town.

Wayne loved fishing with his grandchildren, who knew him as “Poppy.” He also loved shelling at the beach with his family and friends, and also was an avid hockey fan.

The family extends great thanks to their church family and friends and Hospice for their love and support during this time.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sandra K. Nichols; son, Douglas W. Nichols (J.T. Redmon); daughter, Rachel A. Brown (Jason); grandchildren, Laura, J.J., and Brittany; two brothers, James D. Nichols, N. “Peanut” Dean Nichols; mother-in-law Dorothy E. Wolf and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert L. Wolf, Sr.

Services were held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Pastor Don Greger officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, WV.
