Ricky Lynn Hockenberry

Ricky Lynn Hockenberry, 67, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 17, 2021, at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg.

He was born September 26, 1954 in Martinsburg to Charles Lee Hockenberry and Rosalie Elizabeth Pritchard.

He began a 36-year-long long career in baking beginning at the Ye Olde Sweet Shoppe in Shepherdstown and continuing when it became the Shepherdstown Sweet Shop Bakery where he progressed to head baker. His coworkers remember him as a hard worker, dedicated to his craft and generous with his knowledge.

He was a loving husband and truly and dearly loved his wife and kids.

He is survived by his wife Nancy McDonald Hockenberry; one son Austin Lee; three daughters Laura Thurston, Selena Gaither and Holly McDonald; seven grandchildren Adrianna McDonald, TJ Thurston, Aaliyah McDonald, Kaylee Walls, Casanova Cruz, and Arya Alston, Nevaeh Gaither; three brothers Donnie Harrison, Johnny Hockenberry, and Robin Hockenberry; and three sisters Melody Klinger, Tonya Burrell and Erica Redman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Gloria Miller, Jeffery Hockenberry and Yvonne Slevin.

Services and interment will be private.
