June R. Cathcart

It is with deep sorrow and great love that the family of June Rochelle Cathcart, 85, mourn her passing on Jan. 5, 2022 at Care Haven Center in Martinsburg.

Proverbs 31:31 says, “Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” June’s life was a living example of her strong faith in God.

Born June 17, 1936, in Ilchester, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late Ruth E. & Raymond L. Dykes and sister of the late Ronald L. Dykes of Harpers Ferry, WV. She was a loving wife to her late husband the Rev. Charles Cathcart and a caring mother to her children Wendy Cathcart of Charles Town; Laura Cathcart of Shenandoah Junction; Charles T. Cathcart (Roshelle) of Martinsburg; and Rev. Heather Rogers (Jim) of Warwood, WV. She was a devoted grandmother to Victoria, Devontae, Taylor, and Ashley and a proud great grandmother to Willow, Brandon, and Fisher.

Graduating from James Rumsey Technical School and Shepherd College June spent her career as an RN at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, Panhandle Home Health and Good Shepherd Caregivers. She was a United Methodist by faith and attended Oakland Community Church. She was a member of WV Emmaus, a past member of the Jefferson County CEO’s, Parish Nursing and she went on several mission trips with United Methodist Volunteers in Mission.

A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
