Nancy I. Riner

Nancy Irene McCauley Riner, 81, of Bunker Hill, passed away peacefully on Feb. 26, 2022 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility with her family by her side.

Born Sept. 16, 1940 in Martinsburg she was the daughter of the late J. Truman and Irene Markle McCauley.

She was a graduate of Musselman High School, class of 1958 and she attended Shepherd College. After her marriage to George Riner, she started working as a kindergarten aide at Inwood Primary for Berkeley County Schools. Nancy loved music and she gave many students piano lessons after school for many years. She also played the organ for Bunker Hill United Methodist Church and later Inwood United Methodist Church until she could no longer play due to her illness.

Nancy is survived by one son, Bob Riner (Sharon); one daughter, Beth Cash (Ernie); two sisters, Dolores Shirley and Debra Tokach (Anthony); six grandchildren, Jennifer Grove (Robert), Kyle Riner (Ashley), Sarah Combs (Brad), Kelly Riner, Shane and Staci Cash; seven great-grandchildren, Jenna, Blake and Lydia Grove, Kamden and Kolson Riner, Jace and Harleigh Gantt; one niece, Gabrielle Tokach; and one nephew, Chad Shirley.

She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Lynn Shirley.

Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood, with the Rev. Walter Bowers officiating. Family received friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment was in Bunker Hill Cemetery.
