Mary B. Reed

On May 11, 2022, Mary B. Reed, loving mother of four children passed away at the age of 75.

Mary was born on Aug. 5, 1946 in Martinsburg, WV and grew up in Brunswick, MD.

She received her business degree from Shepherd University and her massage certification from the Virginia School of Massage. She was a retired CPA as well as a massage therapist.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Newton, her mother, Venusta, her sister, Jane, and grandson, Andrew. She is survived by her four children, Loretta, Larry, Jeanelle and April, grandchildren Casey Jr., Cory, Grant, Dalton and Maya, and her sisters Marie, Virginia, Beatrice and Ruth.

Mary wore many hats in her life. To name just a few beyond being an extraordinary mom and grandmother she spent over a decade of volunteering for Boy Scouts of America from being Den parent to Cub Scout Master. She was a dedicated summer swim coach for the Jefferson County team teaching and encouraging children to grow and expand on their skills in the pool. She would also volunteer her time to the church for vacation Bible school in the summers and create wonderful fun projects for the children to enjoy and grow from. It was a passion of hers to leave this world a better place for her grandchildren and all children of world. Mary was an avid gardener and a lover of nature, the earth, environment, peace, and gratitude.

A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2022 at St. James Lutheran Church in Uvilla outside at the Monarch Butterfly Station with a potluck luncheon following.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Stonerise of Martinsburg and Hospice of the Eastern Panhandle for their exemplary care of Mary and family support.
