Shirley Y. Lancaster

Shirley Yvonne Lancaster, 86, of Ranson, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022, at the Hospice Inpatient Facility. Born Jan. 8, 1936, in Shenandoah Junction, she was the daughter of the late Richard Trapnell Welch and Mary Susan Mercer Welch.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading and planting flowers and going to her high school reunions. Most of all, she enjoyed her “Saturday Night Date Nights” with her husband of 60 years, James Howard Lancaster. She had worked as a switchboard operator for the Charles Town Telephone Company: GTE and later, for the Charles Town Race Track.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, James Richard Lancaster, and wife Deborah A., of Kearneysville; her two daughters: Donna Jean Stephen, and husband Robert W., of Kabletown, and Deborah S. Lancaster, of Charles Town, and 5 grandchildren: Nicholas Moore, of Shepherdstown, Lexi Kletter, and husband Elliott, and Kurtis Snyder, all of Charles Town, Nathan Lancaster, and wife Victoria, of Navarre Beach, Florida, and Kevin Lancaster, and wife Caitlyn, of Biloxi, Mississippi.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
