Linda Mason

Jul 15, 2022

Linda L. “Lindy” Creamer Mason, age 78, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2022 after a brave battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Linda was born and raised in Shenandoah Junction. She grew up on her family’s farm; she loved all the animals and especially loved when babies were born. In 1960, she graduated from Shepherdstown High School. After graduation, she worked at the Pentagon for a period of time on projects she kept private all her life.

In 1962, she married Edgar Mason and moved to Inwood where she lived until her passing. Linda was a stay-at-home mother for many years after her children were born. In 1977, she rejoined the workforce and in 1980 she began her career with PanTran where she advanced through the ranks from secretary all the way to Director. She retired from PanTran after twenty-five years of service, but the best job and the joy of Linda’s life was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her love for them could not be expressed in simple words.

Linda was a member of Inwood United Methodist Church where over the years she worked on multiple committees, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School. She also loved to decorate the church for Christmas and the tour of churches. Linda loved her community and was always there for her neighbors and friends.

She is survived by her three daughters, Lu Rae Baird and husband, David, Wendy Kief and husband, Todd, and Anne Barrett; five grandchildren, Bergan Miller and husband, Matthew, Kaitlyn May and husband, Kenny, Dillon Holbrook and wife, Megan; Samantha Barrett and Hallie Kief; great-grandchildren, Cecilia May, Brynn Miller, Brooks Miller and Aaronson Holbrook; two sisters, Eleanor Rickard and Penny Ahalt; many nieces, and nephews who she loved as her children.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Edgar J. Mason; son, Barry Lynn; sisters, Bertha Braithwaite and Sylvia Creamer; brother, Steven; brothers-in-law, David Rickard, Ronnie Ahalt, and Rob Braithwaite; parents, Harry and Annie Creamer.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the chapel.

Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
