Patricia M. Hartley
Patricia McCabe Hartley, 94, of Martinsburg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022 at home.
Born June 13, 1928 in Altoona, PA she was the daughter of the late Lawrence John and Bessie Amelia Pixley McCabe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll W. Hartley; sister, Helen “Peggy” Kowalczyk; and brother, John L. McCabe.
A graduate of Martinsburg High School Class of 1946 and King’s Daughters Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1949, Pat was a registered nurse who worked at King’s Daughters Hospital and City Hospital over a span of more than 40 years. She was also an instructor at the James Rumsey School of Practical Nursing. With her big heart and generous spirit, Pat had a gift for bettering the lives of others.
She is survived by three sons, Jeffrey W. Hartley (Margaret) of Shepherdstown, David M. Hartley (Amy) of Martinsburg and Dr. William T. Hartley (Alicia) of Lookout Mountain, TN. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Hannah Newhouse (Zach), Sabrina Sutherland (Will), Shannon Hartley, Luke Hartley and McCabe (Mac) Hartley as well as two great-grandchildren, Emma and Carter Newhouse; niece Margaret “Peggy” Martorana. She loved her family dearly. Pat was also blessed with a special friend, Tina Allen, who cared for her compassionately during her last months of life with assistance from Hospice of the Panhandle.
A celebration of her life will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Martinsburg in the fall, her favorite season.
