Robert L. Sherman

Robert Lee Sherman, 83, of Charles Town, West Virginia passed away Sept. 19, 2022 at Hospice of the Panhandle, IPF in Kearneysville, WV.

He was born Feb. 28, 1939 in Moorefield, West Virginia and was the son of the late Irvin Sherman and Mary Parsons Sherman.

He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town, WV.

Bob was a graduate of Moorefield High School, Class of 1957, and earned his Bachelors Degree at Shepherd College. He continued on to earn his Masters Degree from West Virginia University. He served his first year teaching school in Hardy County, WV, and continued in Jefferson County schools for twenty-nine years, retiring as Principal of Ranson Elementary, a post he held for twenty of those years. He continued to serve as a substitute principal. For approximately seven years he was church development coordinator for Charles Town Presbyterian Church.

Bob made a difference in our community and citizens.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Gail, at home; two sons, Travis Clay Sherman and wife, Thersa of Purcellville, VA and Andrew Lee Sherman and wife Karen of Bunker Hill, WV; two grandchildren, Jenna and Jacob; three brothers, William “Billy”, Edward “Eddie” and Gary Sherman and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services were held Monday, Sept. 26, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Asbury U.M.C., 110 W North St. Charles Town, WV 25414, with Pastor Duane Jensen officiating. Interment followed in Olivet Cemetery, 323 Winchester Ave., Moorefield, WV 26836 at 3 p.m.
