Lu Ann Jamison
Well, if you are reading this, Lu Ann is dead. But what a wonderful life she had.
Lu Ann was born Oct. 18, 1954 in Berkeley Springs, WV to her parents, the late Oliver Wendell Holmes Jamison and Nita Mae Lyons Jamison of Berkeley Springs, and there the story began.
She grew up in Berkeley Springs, WV and was a graduate of the Class of 1972. Lu Ann attended Shepherd when it was a college and almost graduated until she decided that she hated teaching and left college. Her parents were delighted, thrilled even.
Lu Ann found out that she loved to sing and act. She started solo work at age six and sang in a choir in high school. She was best known starring as “Lucy” in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown and reprised a musical number “Frankie and Johnny” that wowed the audiences every theatre night. She played the role of the aunt in “Carousel” at the Washington County Playhouse and won many awards in high school one act play competitions.
Lu Ann loved dogs and never met one she did not like. (Never) Lu Ann hopes that if she arrived in Heaven, she is a keeper of the fur babies.
So, she was employed for 20 years with Senior Life Services of Morgan County, first as their secretary, then their eldercare supervisor, an outreach worker and finally as Assistant Director (until her untimely departure from that position). She went to work for the WV Department of Health and Human Resources, Morgan County Office, for 15 years. She retired and then went back on a contract. Serving people was her appointed calling.
Lu Ann had a pretty good sense of humor and loved being around people……they were her lifeline.
She was a Christian and had a profound love of God, her life support system. Lu Ann was a team member of First United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs and served on many committees. But her love was singing in the choir. Nothing like praising the Lord in song. She was a member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60 Auxiliary, past member of the Morgan County Humane Society Board of Directors and a proud member of the Class of 72 (ladies who lunch).
Lu Ann is survived by a wonderful family, including her mother and Sandra Hevener, her partner of 21 years, her younger siblings, Kathy Kay Jamison Brake and her husband Phil Brake of Elkins, WV, John Wendell Jamison and his spouse Cindi Jamison, Suzann Jamison and her partner (should have been her spouse) Steve Dick, all of Berkeley Springs, WV, seven nephews, Michael Jamison and his spouse Crystal, Remington Stevens and Payton Stevens, all of Berkeley Springs, Zebadiah Unger of Martinsburg, WV, Samuel Brake and his partner Casey, of Elkins, WV, Preston Jamison and Trevor Jamison (Always Happy Birthday Buddy), both of Great Cacapon, WV and her one and only niece, Shauni Stevens Redick and her husband Lucas “Shadow” Redick of Hudson, FL, great nieces and nephews, Hannah, Riley, Kennedi, Korbyn, Tinsley, Ella, Michael, Karsyn, Eli, Mia and Timber, and coming soon, Miya Brake and Colt Stevens. Last but not least, her heart and beloved dachshund, Ava.
A celebration of her life was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022 at First United Methodist Church, 49 South Green Street, Berkeley Springs, WV, with Pastor Joshua Ryder officiating.
