Gary L. Weismiller

Gary Lane Weismiller went peacefully to his Lord and Savior while at home in Daytona Beach, FL on Nov. 28, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born in Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC on May 2, 1955 to Robert Frank Weismiller and Anne Simmons Weismiller.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Weismiller, his sister, Margaret Anne Hedges and brother-in-law, David Franklin Hedges.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Angela Marie Mensh Weismiller, his mother, Anne Simmons Weismiller, his brother, Robert Blaine Weismiller and his daughter, Erica Cruikshank (Drew) and grandson, Cole Cruikshank.

Gary attended school in both Hyattsville and Beltsville, MD and graduated from High Point High School in 1974. While at High Point, he was on both the Varsity Football Team and Wrestling Team. He played on the only undefeated High Point Football Team in 1973 and was named the Washington Metro Football Player of All Met Football of the Year in 1973. Gary also attended Montgomery College and the University of Maryland. Later he completed Local 5 Plumber and Pipefitters Apprentice Program and worked in that field for over 30 years, retiring in 2013.

As a child, Gary spent his summers in Deale, MD., where he crabbed, swam and boated everyday. His love of the water, continued and he became a certified diver and loved diving in both the Atlantic and the Caribbean.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Pastor Steve Melester officiating. Interment followed in Elmwood Cemetery in Shepherdstown, WV.

The family received friends one hour prior to the service.

A luncheon followed at the Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown, WV.
