Barbara Luzader Broomall
Barbara Luzader Broomall of South Bethany, Delaware and Shepherdstown, West Virginia entered the Kingdom of God on December 21,2022.
Born on October 12, 1952, to William and Betty Luzader in Madison, West Virginia, Barbara spent her formative years in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education in 1974 from East Tennessee State University where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi and began her career as a dental health educator in North Carolina. She continued her graduate education at North Carolina State University, where she met her husband; she pursued further graduate education later at the University of Delaware.
For nearly two decades, she was a beloved kindergarten teacher at Immaculate Conception School in Elkton, Maryland. She received a standing ovation from her students and colleagues upon her retirement in 2015.
Above all, a woman of faith who centered her life on Jesus Christ and her family, Barbara is survived by her husband, Dr. James K. Broomall; her son, Dr. James J. Broomall and his wife, Matisha Wiggs of Shepherdstown, West Virginia; the “apples of her eye,” grandchildren Simon, Henry, and Addy; and her sister, Karen Eskew and brother-in- law John Eskew.
She was preceded in her death by her parents and her brothers Karl and William, Jr.
Barbara was the loving center of her family, who enjoyed special time with them in South Bethany. The time spent with her grandchildren, whom she adored, was precious to her.
A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held early in 2023 in Shepherdstown, WV.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church in Shepherdstown or Hospice of the Panhandle in West Virginia. Special thanks to Hospice for their kindness at the end of Barbara’s life.
