Bonnie M. Pitzer

Bonnie Martin Pitzer, 81, of Martinsburg, WV passed away on Feb. 16, 2023, at Canterbury Nursing Home.

Preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Schoppert, father, Frank Schoppert, brother, Douglas Schoppert, sister, Patsy Campbell, and ex-husband, Syd Pitzer. She is survived by her brother, Tim Schoppert, sons, Chris Pitzer (and wife Lisa), and Andrew Pitzer (and wife Jessica), and her three granddaughters, Zoe, Sydnie and Myla, and her beloved niece, Amy Nemser.

Bonnie was born Aug. 7, 1941, in Martinsburg, WV, and grew up on John Street.

She attended Martinsburg High School, was known for her friendliness, thespian work, and graduated in 1959.

After graduating, she started a family while working at Merchants and Farmers Bank.

She then found her calling by entering the education field, working at Inwood Primary School and as an aide on a special needs school bus. Bonnie had a gift for understanding children with special needs, and they were often drawn to her. Bonnie’s home was always open to anyone who needed a good meal and a place to stay, and she loved to try out recipes for her family and friends.

Her joys in life consisted of cooking, shopping, travel, her dogs, and being a friend of many in the LG community.

The family will be having a private memorial at a later date.
