Leo D. Ashbaugh
Leo “Pap” Donald Ashbaugh, 81, of Harpers Ferry passed away Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023, in the Hospice Inpatient Facility.
Born March 15, 1941, in Loudoun County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Harry Jacob Ashbaugh and Alice Marie Benger Ashbaugh. He served in the US Army and worked as a carpenter for Mid-Atlantic Carpenters Union. He also owned Ashbaugh’s Body Shop in Harpers Ferry. Pap was a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by one son, Richard Ashbaugh, Sr. of Harpers Ferry, two daughters, Lisa Ashbaugh and husband Quentin Threadgrill of Harpers Ferry, and Alice LaCotta and husband Timothy of Montana, sister Nancy Raines of Baltimore, Maryland, grandchildren, Richard Ashbaugh, Jr. and wife Ashley of Shepherdstown, Mary “Beth” Ashbaugh of Roanoke, Virginia, Hayley and Eva Ashbaugh of Harpers Ferry, and Timothy, Jon and Rayna LaCotta of Montana, great-grandchildren, Seth, Ian, and Ryleigh Ashbaugh, Hope and Tazman McLaughlin, and Isabelle LaCotta, several nieces and nephews, and a very special friend Marlene Hackley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Loula Belle Breeden Ashbaugh and eleven siblings.
Celebration of Life was held 11 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2023, at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, with Pastor Lynn Wilson officiating.
