Cynthia ‘Cindy’ Schott

An Army brat, Cynthia “Cindy” Schott lived everywhere, but Shepherdstown became home. She moved with her young family to the small town to be with loved ones and heal from her first battle with cancer.
Cindy became a community pillar. A driving force behind the Historic Shepherdstown Commission, she oversaw the revitalization of the Entler Hotel – near and dear to her heart. Her commitment to the area continued; she served in roles from Magistrate to Town Council Recorder. If it was good for the community, Cindy had a hand in it. From helping to start Streetfest to her yearly role as Shepherdstown’s Easter Bunny.
Through her commitment to serving those around her, so many of us grew to know and love Cindy. That unwavering dedication was acknowledged by Shepherdstown Rotary with their highest community honor, the Paul Harris Fellow.
While on the Eastern Shore, she met Michael, the man she loved until her last days. Together they returned to West Virginia and became anchors of the Bavarian Inn, with Cindy as the Director of Front Desk Operations.
Cindy will be dearly missed. She is survived by her partner Michael, her four siblings: Susan, Richard, Heather, and Christopher, her two children Jennifer and Derek along with her Son-in-Law Kevin and two grandchildren.
There will be a public celebration of Cindy’s life on July 1 at her home. All are welcome, arrive at 3 p.m.
If you would like to bring a small memento to display, space will be provided.
In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations to Hospice of the Eastern Panhandle; the organization that was enormously supportive of Cindy and her family in their time of need.
