Tammy M. DeGraff

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tammy Michelle DeGraff on July 9, 2023, in Blue Ridge, VA. Tammy, aged 62, was born on Dec. 31, 1960, in Martinsburg, WV, to Douglas and Linda Fries.

Tammy was a woman of exceptional grace, known for her unwavering devotion and selflessness. She was survived by her husband, Tim DeGraff, and her children: Chris Saferight, Alyssa Saferight, Sarah DeGraff, Hayden DeGraff; and granddaughter, Charlotte Saferight. She is also survived by her father, Douglas, her sister, Lisa Unger, and her brother, Steven Fries. Tammy was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Fries, and her sister, Kimberly Barney. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Tammy’s educational pursuits brought her great fulfillment and paved the way for a notable career in pharmacy. Graduating from Martinsburg High School, she continued her studies at Shepherd College and the WVU School of Pharmacy. Tammy’s expertise and dedication as a pharmacist were exemplified during her time at Revco from 1984 to 1992 and later at Carilion Clinic, where she served with compassion and distinction until 2019.

Tammy’s faith in God provided her solace and guidance. She was an active member of Rainbow Forest Baptist Church, where she found spiritual nourishment and a strong sense of community. Her unwavering commitment to her religious beliefs was an inspiration to those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Outside of her professional and spiritual endeavors, Tammy found delight in her hobbies. She reveled in the art of crafting, pouring her heart and creativity into beautiful creations. Books became her trusted companions, offering knowledge, escape, and inspiration. And the allure of Hallmark movies provided her with moments of joy and relaxation.

A celebration of life was held on July 15th at Rainbow Forest Baptist Church.

Tammy’s legacy of love and selflessness will forever be engraved in our hearts. Her absence leaves an immeasurable void, but we find solace in knowing that she now rests in eternal peace, reunited with her heavenly Father.
