Marquita S. Mendieta

Marquita Shanell Mendieta, also known as “Quita”, the beloved daughter of the late Lester “Bob” Redman and Deborah Redman was born on Aug. 12, 1983 in Wadesboro, North Carolina. She entered the gates of our Lord and Savior on Aug. 30, 2023.
Quita was preceded in death by her daughter, Nyarieve Cerenity Redman, her father Lester Redman, and her maternal grandfather Lacy Smith.
Quita had a smile that would light up any room that she entered. Quita was a big Dallas Cowboys fan. She also loved to dance and shut the club down. She was known for wearing bright colors. She loved to cook and travel. She was currently the manager at the KFC in Martinsburg and an associate at the Rocs in Shepherdstown.
Quita will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, husband – Raul (Chato) Mendieta; Daughter – Zakalani Mendieta; two stepchildren – Raulito Mendieta & Kiera Baxter; Mother Deborah Redman; Mother and Father in-laws – Mirtha & Fransisco Mendieta; Sister Shanbrae Redman; maternal grandmother, Juanita Chambers; nieces Shikera Burns & Azaria Taylor; Step- sister – Marresa Burg; Sister in-law – Francia Mendieta and niece Fara; Sister in-law – Mirtha Royer and nephew’s Samir & Emir; Niece Marbella Mendieta and great niece Fernada Portillo; Godbrother from another mother, Ronnie Russell; best friend- Debra Kinley and her partner in crime, Angela Yancey Mitchell aka Diamond; Godmother’s – Angela and Joannie Spencer; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and a multitude of friends. She will forever be remembered as “Queen”, “Peaches” and everyone at Old Route 9 as “Big 50”.
Funeral service was held on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home. Family received friends one hour prior to the service. A repass followed the service at Mt. Zion U.M.C, 532 W. Martin St., Martinsburg, WV. Interment will be private.
