Raleigh Dawson

Raleigh “Leigh” Dawson passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Martinsburg Veterans Affair Center, with his brother Cornell Dawson at his side.

Leigh was born July 29, 1937 in Dulce, New Mexico to the late Raleigh Wycliffe Dawson, Sr., and Lois Adelaide Cornell Dawson.

Leigh graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Public Relations and attended a year of seminary. Leigh served overseas in the U.S. Army and was a salesman in various direct marketing businesses all around the country. He was a devoted Christian, a loving son, brother, uncle, and great uncle. Leigh was happiest when he was witnessing to others and sharing his passion for Christ and deepening connections between and with others, stranger, and friend.

Leigh is survived by his brother, Cornell Dawson; sister-in-law, Alice Dawson; loving nieces and nephews, Michael Dawson, Patricia Gold, Joanna Lewick, and Mark Dawson.

A celebration of life service will be held at Covenant Baptist Church, 7485 Shepherdstown Pike, Shepherdstown, WV 25443 on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 10:30 a.m.
