Helen Bennett

Helen Joyce Bennett was born on December 17, 1930, in Little Rock, Arkansas – the fifth of John and Flida Bennett’s six children.
On June 10, 1954, she married the love of her life, Clyde Dixon Dean. Over the next three and a half decades, they, along with their ever-increasing family, traveled the world as the Marine Corps sent them from place to place. Dick and Helen shared a rare love and respect for one another – each in awe of what the other accomplished.
While Dick served in nearly every kind of military capacity, Helen moved with grace and calm from base to base, country to country, raising their children with love and honor. In 1987 Lt. Gen. C. D. Dean retired, and from that moment until his passing in 2001 they were rarely apart.
On November 5, 2023, Helen and Dick were finally reunited. She passed as she lived, with grace and dignity and surrounded by love. She is survived by her 5 children (Robin Walker, Trisa Fuhrman, Darian Chamberlain, Rex Dean, Suzannah Olson) and their spouses, 14 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She has left behind a legacy of love and respect that will last long beyond memory.
Helen’s family would like to thank each person who made her final time on this earth happy and peaceful, especially the in-home caregivers, Mary and Angelesa, plus the staff at Hospice of the Panhandle, both at the inpatient facility and those with palliative services. The comfort you have offered to our entire family is beyond words and we will all be eternally grateful.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 11AM at the Central Church of Christ with Minister Robert Veil, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the National Cemetery at Quantico Virginia.
