Ronald “Tim” D. Smith

Ronald “Tim” DeWayne Smith, 68, formerly of Charles Town, WV passed away at the Charleston Medical Center in Charleston, WV, after a long illness, on Sunday, Nov.12, 2023.

Born July 3, 1955, he was the son of Doris Rebecca Jackson Smith and the late Robert “Potsie” Smith of Charles Town, WV.

Tim was a member of the first graduating class of Jefferson High School in 1973, a graduate of Shepherd College where he majored in Psychology and Secondary Education and was a graduate of Moody Bible College in Chicago, IL. Tim excelled in track at Jefferson and Shepherd College and coached little league baseball for several years.

Tim attended Wainwright Baptist Church as a child, and as a adult gave his life to Jesus Christ; he knew and loved the Lord and never hesitated to spread the gospel wherever he was. Tim loved God and his mother with all that he was. Wherever he was, he always kept in contact with his mother and always supported his sisters, nephews, and nieces.

He is survived by his mother; four sisters, Joanie Washington, Robin Bounds and husband, Herman both of Charles Town; Mary “Kathy” Weaver and Doris “Nonnie” Smith, both of Ranson; one brother, Paul Smith and wife, Carolyn; brother-in-law, Ralph Washington; one aunt, Mary Smith, Baltimore MD., and a host of nieces, nephews, great nephews/nieces, cousins and friends. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, many aunts and uncles, and one brother-in-law, John “Jackie” Weaver.
