Freddie C. ‘Fred’ Hammer

Freddie C. “Fred” Hammer, age 75 of Shepherdstown, WV, passed away on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV. He was born in Harrisonburg, VA, on Feb. 23, 1948, the son of the late Junius Clarence “June” and Shirley Bly (Taylor) Hammer.

Freddie was a 1966 graduate of Franklin High School and obtained a BA Degree in Education from Shepherd College. He attended Franklin Presbyterian Church. He loved carpentry and he owned and operated his own wood shop. Freddie had worked at the VA Hospital in Martinsburg and retired after 40 years of service as a head of the maintenance department from Shepherd University.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin, WV, with Pastor Mike Loudermilk officiating. Interment will follow.
