E. William Chapman

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of E. William Chapman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Born on Oct. 21, 1940, in Martinsburg, West Virginia, he passed away on Nov. 30, 2023 at his home in Leesburg, Virginia. Bill or Chap, as he was affectionately known, began his life journey in the town of Martinsburg, West Virginia.
In 1965, he married Paige, creating a bond that endured the test of time. Their union was a testament to love, commitment, and partnership, and Paige survives him, cherishing the memories they built together over the years.
Bill is survived by his brother Wayne Chapman of Martinsburg, WVA. He is also survived by his loving children: son Brady Chapman and his wife Kristen, along with their children Calvin, Joslyn, and Lillian of Bradenton, FL; and daughter Lindsey Frye and her husband Jay Frye, and their children Jake, Kaylee, Anna, and Sam.
A proud Air Force veteran, Bill dedicated a portion of his life in service to his country. He pursued higher education at Shepherd College, where he distinguished himself as the president of the student body. His academic journey continued at the University of Virginia Law School, where he graduated in 1970, marking the beginning of a highly regarded legal career.
Beginning his professional journey in Leesburg, VA, Bill practiced law in all its facets, establishing himself as a respected member of the legal community. His commitment to excellence in his field paved the way for a fulfilling career, culminating in his role as an attorney for Loudoun County Public Schools.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Bill found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether by the riverbanks of the Potomac, on tropical islands, or in the company of lifelong friends, he relished each moment. His love for family was paramount, and his role as a husband, father, and grandfather was nothing short of extraordinary.
Bill Chapman will be remembered not only for his professional achievements, but also for the warmth, kindness, and unwavering love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him. As we mourn his passing, we find comfort in the rich memories he leaves behind.
Funeral services were held at Leesburg Community Church on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at 12 noon. A celebration of life at Loudoun Golf and Country Club was at 3.
He will be greatly missed, but fondly remembered.
