Robert Ott

Robert “Bobby” Eben Ott, 90 of Kearneysville, WV passed away on December 20, 2023 at the Veterans Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.
Born July 16, 1933 in Charles Town, WV, he was the son of the late Elmer Addison Ott and Blanche Elizabeth Fritts Ott.
Bobby graduated from Harpers Ferry High School, Class of 1951. He was a Sgt. in the US Army until his honorable discharge in 1962. He then became a Metropolitan Insurance agent and sold real estate for Geno Realty, Century 21 and Blue Gray Real Estate until he retired in 2012.
He was an avid sports fan, having played football and baseball for Harpers Ferry High. He was a little league baseball coach for the Braves and a midget league basketball coach for the Lakers until 1977. Bobby was an assistant coach for the Jefferson High Girl’s softball team for the 92 and 93 seasons. Bobby was a member of 4-H growing up and continued to advocate for it all his life. He was a member of the Jefferson FFA Alumni for over 20 years. He was a passionate politician and long-time member of the Jefferson County Democratic Executive Committee and Association and a member of the Jefferson C ounty Fair Association. Bobby never met anyone he didn’t like and could talk for hours.
He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Linda K. Ott, his children, Robert D. “Bobby” Ott (Hong) of Germantown, MD, Patty D. Dorsey (Philip) of Charles Town, WV, and Kathryn L. Root (Harold, Jr.) of Shepherdstown, WV, grandchildren, Christopher Dorsey (Amanda), Phillip Dorsey (Jen), Jessie Ott, Tyler Torlone (Nicole), Rachel M. Root and several great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, John E. “Bud” Ott, Elenor “Polly” Glesner, Franklin D. “Frank” Ott, Elizabeth “Pat” Thompson and Mary Katherine “Kay” Payne and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Ott, Perry “Gene” Ott and granddaughter, Heather Ray Ott.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, WV.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 6-8 pm.
